POOL: A SOCIAL HISTORY OF SEGREGATION
Client: Fairmount Water Works
GhM worked closely with Fairmount Water Works and exhibition curator/organizer Habithèque on the 4700 s.f. multi-media museum exhibition Pool: A Social History of Segregation. Sited in a space that formerly housed a public swimming pool at the National Historic Landmark, Fairmount Water Works, this meticulously researched and organized exhibition looks at the charged history of public swimming pool and swimming culture more broadly, in the context of the historical and ongoing civil rights struggle of African Americans. The GhM studio produced film and audio content, animation, advised on A/V exhibit design, sound design, and oversaw installation of all A/V exhibits. The exhibition included projections onto the existing historic architecture of the former public swimming at Fairmount Water Works.
