HIDDEN LIVES ILLUMINATED
Client: Eastern State Penitentiary
From 2018 through 2019, GhM worked closely with Eastern State Penitentiary (ESP) to realize Hidden Lives Illuminated (HLI) –– a groundbreaking month-long public presentation of original animated films by incarcerated artists. GhM worked closely with ESP on technical and creative project development, and worked over the course of several months with artists inside the State Correctional Institution––Chester, PA, to produce, co-direct, edit and design sound for a series of 20 short animated films. Additionally, GhM designed and coordinated the audio-visual installation for HLI’s public presentation, where the films were projected during nightly thematic screenings onto the front wall of Eastern State Penitentiary during August and September, 2019.
