Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies

Greenhouse Media produced this short film for the Association for Public Art, documenting the public experience of Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies. A public art project by renowned Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang, Fireflies was a participatory experience where twenty-seven custom pedicabs, designed by the artist, offered nightly rides along Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Greenhouse Media filmed the project over its three-week run, riding along and interviewing participating cabbies and passengers. These subjects help illuminate how public art can foster connections between people and encourage visitors and residents alike to see the city anew.
